A character who's planning to get married is asked to sign a pre-nuptial agreement, and it causes controversy.

Iris is planning to marry a Greek man named Alex, and Henry, who thinks Alex is after Iris's money, thinks she should have him sign a pre-nup. Meanwhile, Alex's son thinks Iris is after his money and thinks he should have Iris sign a pre-nup.
• Newhart: Season 4, episode 24, "Pre-nups" (1986). Stephanie's father asks Michael to sign a pre-nup because he thinks Michael only loves Stephanie for her money.
• Cheers: Season 6, episode 8, "Bidding on the Boys" (1987). Lilith is outraged when Frasier asks her to sign a pre-nup, so she gets back at him by winning Sam in the bachelor auction.
• Seinfeld: Season 7, episode 22, "The Invitations" (1996). George is trying to find a way out of marrying Susan, so Kramer suggests he ask her to sign a pre-nup. Unfortunately, it just makes Susan laugh.
