- My Favorite Martian: Season 1, episode 4, "Russians R in Season" (1963). After Tim publishes an article with a formula Martin muttered in his sleep, the government suspects that he's a Russian spy and makes him take a lie detector test.
- Gilligan's Island: Season 3, episode 19, "Lovey's Secret Admirer" (1967). To find out who's been writing love letters to Mrs. Howell, the Professor builds a lie detector machine out of coconuts and various parts from the ship and the radio and uses it to question the Skipper and Gilligan.
- America 2 Night: Season 1, episode 14, "Pharaoh Fawcett and the Sphinx" (1978). A police officer demonstrates a lie detector test by connecting Sherman Hemsley to it while Barth interviews him.
- Barney Miller: Season 5, episode 14, "Voice Analyzer" (1979). A series of articles about cops taking bribes has Scanlon on a witch hunt. He insists on interviewing the detectives of the 12th precinct with a new kind of lie detector that supposedly analyzes the stress in a person's voice.
- Newhart: Season 1, episode 18, "The Boy Who Cried Goat" (1983). Kirk claims a man robbed his café at gunpoint, but because of his reputation in town, his insurance company isn't sure he's telling the truth, so they give him a lie detector test.
- Seinfeld: Season 6, episode 14, "The Beard" (1995). When Jerry tells his new cop girlfriend that he's never seen Melrose Place, she doesn't believe him and gives him a lie detector test, which he fails.
