Everyone is invited to a party except for one person, who feels hurt and left out until they realize they actually were invited, but for some reason they didn't gt their invitation.

- Gilligan's Island: Season 3, episode 20, "Love Me, Love My Skipper" (1966). The Howells decide to hold a cotillion on the island, and Mr. Howell accidentally drops the Skippers invitation, leading him to believe he's the only castaway who wasn't invited.
- Mr. Belvedere: Season 1, episode 2, "The Outcasts" (1985). Wesley is pissed because his friend, Howie, invited everyone in their class to his birthday party except Wesley and three other kids, so Mr. Belvedere suggests Wesley have is own party and invite the other misfits from class. During the dismal party, Howie calls and asks where Wesley is. Apparently he was invited, so Wesleys peaces out and goes to the cool party after all.
- Murphy Brown: Season 1, episode 9, "I Would Have Danced All Night" (1989). Everyone at the office is going to the inaugural ball except Murphy, who didn't get her usual invitation. She rushes around trying get an invite to no avail, then Miles tells her the guy who runs the newsstand in the lobby—whose name is Murray Brown—got an invitation, and Murphy realizes it was a clerical error.
- Wings: Season 8, episode 3, "Maybe It's You" (1996). Joe is seething with rage because he thinks everyone was invited to his friend Dave's wedding but him, and just after he leaves Dave a nasty message, an apologetic Dave shows up with Joe's invitation, which he had accidentally dropped under the seat in his car.
- Frasier: Season 8, episode 22, "A Passing Fancy" (2001). A guy from the dog park invites all the other dogs to his dog's birthday party, but Eddie doesn't get an invitation, and Martin is irritated about it until the day of the party, when the host calls and says Eddie's invitation must have been lost in the mail.
